Chess with a six year old

The other afternoon Rowan and I played a casual game of chess. Or so I thought.
Everything seemed to be going smoothly for me, until...
Suddenly Rowan had me in checkmate.
Hmm. Looks like I ought to crack into those chess books.

Dad's so cute!

I think I know the chess books you're talking about...the ones in the can by the can??? Those could really help you out!

Oh, what an absolute cutie pie!! (Love eavesdropping on your sweet family's conversation in the comment box, too.)

More power to you -- I never learned to play chess. My firstborn is a different story...we should get those boys together!

Oh boy I think he would get me too! It's been that long I don't even remember how to play I'm afraid. Clever little guy....getting Mama like that!
